nantucket joie

Today I am inspired, once again, by the book I’m currently reading. This one is set on the quaint, beautiful island of Nantucket. The story is about a few strangers whose lives become entwined at a beach house, and through the story line, the author paints a wonderful vision of the island. Though I’ve never been, it seems to be a place that comes alive in the summertime, filling with artists, fishermen & vacationers. In my mind, a typical day on the island would include walking with a towel along the garden-lined streets to the beach, wearing a bathing suit, cutoffs and a light sweatshirt. Lunching in town on fresh tomato salad and lemonade. Browsing the shops, finding postcards and a beautiful watercolor painting to bring home. Watching the sun sink from the beach, feeling a refreshing chill on your sun-soaked skin. Washing off the salt and sand, donning a sundress for sparkling dinner and cocktails back in town. And ending the day with a nightcap and a starry, twinkling sky.

What a wonderful daydream…
